05 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
06 - 1 teaspoon dried oregano
07 - 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
08 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

→ Assembly

09 - 100 g shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
10 - 4 pita breads, halved
11 - 240 ml tzatziki sauce
12 - Chopped lettuce, optional
13 - Chopped tomatoes, optional

# Steps:

01 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.
02 - Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through.
03 - Stir in mushrooms, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Continue cooking until mushrooms are tender and any liquid has evaporated.
04 - Add shredded cheese to the beef and mushroom mixture. Stir until cheese has melted and the filling is evenly combined.
05 - Gently warm pita breads until soft. Carefully open the pita pockets.
06 - Spoon beef and mushroom filling into each pita half. Top with tzatziki sauce, and add lettuce and tomato if desired. Serve immediately.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Greek yogurt-based tzatziki offers a tangy contrast to the savory filling.
02 - Replace ground beef with lentils or plant-based mince for a vegetarian alternative.
03 - Filling can be prepared ahead and reheated for quick assembly.
