Crunchy Baked Fries (Print)

Gorgeous orange fries with a crunchy outer layer and soft middle, jazzed up with paprika, garlic and our special trick for extra crispness.

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 teaspoon salt
02 - 1 teaspoon paprika (use smoked paprika for a richer taste, if desired)
03 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
04 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
05 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
06 - 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for a crispier outcome)
07 - 2 medium sweet potatoes, cut into fries about 1/4 inch thick (peeling is optional)

# Steps:

01 - Turn your oven on to 425°F (220°C). Put a baking sheet inside so it heats up too.
02 - Cut the sweet potatoes into fry-sized pieces around 1/4 inch thick. Peeling them is up to you! Keep them similar in size for better cooking.
03 - Add the fries to a bowl of cold water for half an hour. Getting rid of extra starch here is really what makes them crispy.
04 - After soaking, drain the fries and use a paper towel to pat them dry. Toss them in a big bowl with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. If you're adding cornstarch, sprinkle it in and mix to coat evenly.
05 - Carefully pull out the hot baking sheet. Lay out the fries in one single layer so they have space. Pop them in the oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway, until they’re nice and crispy with golden edges.
06 - Once the fries look golden and perfectly crisp, take them out. Allow them to cool down for a moment, then enjoy!

# Additional Notes:

01 - Using cornstarch helps make a thin layer on the fries that pulls in moisture and keeps the outside crunchy but the inside soft.
