Spicy Crispy Jumbo Shrimp (Print)

Golden fried shrimp bathed in a fiery-sweet sauce mixing sriracha, honey and lime juice that works great as a starter or main course.

# Ingredients:

→ Core Ingredients

01 - 1 green onion, minced for topping (optional)
02 - ½ teaspoon black pepper
03 - ½ teaspoon garlic powder
04 - ½ teaspoon salt
05 - ¾ cup cornstarch or potato starch
06 - 1 cup buttermilk
07 - 2 cups neutral oil or vegetable oil, for cooking
08 - 1 lb large shrimp, cleaned and peeled

→ For the Sauce

09 - ½ teaspoon freshly grated lime zest
10 - 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
11 - 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
12 - 1 tablespoon honey
13 - 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
14 - ½ cup sweet chili sauce

# Steps:

01 - Toss the shrimp with buttermilk in a mixing bowl. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes to soften them up.
02 - In a separate bowl, stir together sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, vinegar, lime zest, and lime juice. Set it to the side.
03 - Combine cornstarch, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt in a big bowl. Take each shrimp and give it a good coating, shaking off the extra.
04 - In a big pan, heat your oil over medium until it hits 350°F (177°C). Fry a few shrimp at a time for 2 minutes or so, flipping once. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
05 - Take the shrimp out and lay them on a plate with paper towels or a wire rack to soak up the extra oil.
06 - Put the cooked shrimp into a large bowl. Pour your sauce over them and gently toss until they're all coated. Sprinkle with chopped green onions if you like. Serve right away!

# Additional Notes:

01 - Buttermilk makes shrimp taste better and keeps them juicy.
02 - Crispy fried shrimp are best eaten as soon as they're done cooking.
