Strawberry Danish Flaky Pastry (Print)

Flaky pastry filled with cream cheese and strawberries, perfect for brunch or a sweet snack any time.

# Ingredients:

→ Pastry

01 - 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed

→ Filling

02 - 225 grams cream cheese, softened
03 - 50 grams granulated sugar
04 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
05 - 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

→ Finish

06 - 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

# Steps:

01 - Preheat oven to 190°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
02 - Unfold and roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into 4 equal 10-centimetre squares.
03 - In a mixing bowl, blend softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
04 - Spoon a generous portion of the cream cheese mixture onto the centre of each pastry square. Top the filling with sliced fresh strawberries.
05 - Fold the corners of each square over the filling, gently pressing to seal the edges. Place the filled pastries onto the prepared baking tray.
06 - Brush the tops of the pastries with beaten egg to ensure a glossy, golden finish.
07 - Bake in the centre of the oven for 20–25 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. Allow to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature for a smooth, lump-free filling.
02 - For best texture, serve pastries warm or at room temperature within hours of baking.
