Stir in diced zucchini and tomato sauce. Sprinkle in Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing vegetables to soften slightly.

Spread half of the beef and zucchini mixture evenly in a baking dish. Top with half of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat layering with the remaining mixture and cheese.

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
